Keep Logs Long-Term in Your Own S3 Bucket with Log Archives

You can now keep logs for as long as you need in an Amazon S3 bucket you own, while Atatus keeps recent logs ready to search. Log Archives in Atatus log management copy the logs Atatus ingests to your bucket automatically, for compliance, audits or later investigations.

Archived logs are written as compressed JSON, so you can query them later with AWS Athena, Elasticsearch or another tool. You can archive everything or add filters to archive only the logs you choose. Setup steps are in the S3 log archiving docs.

What you can do

  • Your bucket, your retention: Logs go to an S3 bucket in your AWS account, and you decide how long to keep them.
  • Quick setup: Grant Atatus write access with a bucket policy, then add the bucket name, path and region under Logs > Archives.
  • Filter what you archive: Archive all logs, or only those matching filters such as service, source, severity, environment or host.
  • Open format: Logs are stored as compressed JSON that Athena, Elasticsearch and other tools can read.
  • Lower storage cost: Keep long-term history in S3 instead of extending retention in Atatus.
